DNG Overview

At PHOTONIS we distinct several types of detectors:

  • Fission chambers for in-core use
  • Fission chambers for out-of-core use
  • Boron lined proportional counters
  • Gamma Ionisation Chamber
  • Cable Extensions

An overview of all related products can be found in the DNG Catalogue.

Fission chambers for in-core use Fission chambers for in-core use

The fission chambers for in-core use are designed for the detection of thermal neutrons in a state of high flux. These detectors are well adapted for in-core measurements under very severe environmental conditions such as high temperature, high humidity and high gamma flux.  Movable versions are available.

Fission chambers for out-of-core use Fission chambers for out-of-core use

The fission chambers for out-of-core use are designed for the detection of thermal neutrons in large flux ranges and in severe environmental conditions. Their water tight HN connectors ensure a high reliability of use. They are available  with an integral HN connector or with an integral mineral insulated cable. A complete Inconel detector protection can be requested. This protection is LOCA (loss of coolant accident) and post LOCA qualified.

Boron lined proportional countersBoron lined proportional counters

The boron lined proportional counters are thermal neutron detectors operating in pulse mode and designed for monitoring nuclear reactors, fuel reprocessing operations and special equipment in nuclear reactors (e.g. boron-meters). Their watertight HN connectors ensure a high safety of use. They are available or with an integral HN connector or with an integral mineral insulated cable.

Gamma Ionisation ChambersGamma Ionisation Chambers

The gamma ionization chambers are intended to measure gamma radiations in nuclear power plants, uranium reprocessing plants or from 60Co sources. The gas characteristics can be adapted to the requirements. The guard ring structure of the CRGA and CRGJ ionization chambers results in a very low leakage current when measuring.

Cable extensionsCable extensions

High-immunity extension cables have been developped for the transmission of low level impulsional signals delivered by source range neutron detectors under environmental conditions which do not allow the use of organic insulated cables. Such extensions cables are equiped with BNC connectors or watertight HN connectors and offer a high level resistance to radiations and electromagnetic parasitic signals.
